One-year-old rushed to hospital

A TODDLER suffered severe facial burns after drinking oven cleaner.

Elijah Mole, aged one, grabbed the bottle while his dad Jimmy did housework.

He was rushed to hospital where surgeons operated immediately to open his airways.

The Birmingham lad also had kidney failure.

Shocked games developer Jimmy, 40, said: “I turned my back and Elijah just grabbed for the bottle and squeezed it into his mouth.

“It’s every parent’s worst nightmare.”

Mum Deanne, 39, an office administrator, is spending 12 hours a day at Elijah’s bedside at the city’s Children’s Hospital.

Last month’s accident came soon after the couple, who also have three-year-old Jacob, returned from their US wedding.

Deanne said: “It’s been an absolute rollercoaster.”
