I miss my Mrs Ripper
YORKSHIRE Ripper Peter Sutcliffe has moaned he is missing his ex-wife Sonia — and blasted her second husband as “jealous and insecure”.
Sutcliffe has been at Broadmoor Hospital for 31 years as he serves 20 life sentences for his 1975-80 murder spree.
A source said: “Sonia still goes to see him occasionally although Peter has complained it is less often.
“He thinks her husband Michael can’t accept they are still friends after all this time. He calls him jealous and insecure and blames him for coming between them.”
And in an image that will fuel 69-year-old Sutcliffe’s anger, she wears a gold band from her 1997 marriage to hairdresser Michael, 55.
Sonia, who divorced Sutcliffe in 1994 after 20 years, was seen shopping last week. Her once flowing jet-black hair is now grey and wispy.
An onlooker said: “Sonia keeps her head down when out and does not chat to her neighbours.”
There was no sign of a wedding ring in those pictures.
Surprisingly Sonia, dubbed Mrs Ripper at Sutcliffe’s 1981 trial, still lives at the Bradford home he would return to after his slayings.
They bought the house for £16,000 in 1977 and it is now worth more than £250,000.
In 1983 a caution was placed on it by The Law Society, meaning she could lose Sutcliffe’s share of the profit if it is sold.
A source said of the house: “Sonia insists it is her home and would also lose money if she left.
“Michael does not like to go there, which is understandable, and instead Sonia goes to visit him. It is a very odd set-up.”
Three weeks ago gidiupdate on monday published the first pictures of bloated Sutcliffe in public for 34 years.
He was heading for an eye operation on the NHS.
