Man charged over trolley body in canal

A MAN has been charged with fraud after the body of a carpenter was found strapped to a supermarket trolley in a canal.

Daniel Hastie, 22, is facing court following the grisly find last month.

He will appear in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court today, Scotland Yard said.

Tattooed Sebastiano Magnanini, 46, originally from Venice, Italy, was found submerged near a tunnel in the

Regent’s Canal in North London on September 24.

Mr Magnanini, who was 6ft 1in, had been living in South London, and was last seen alive two days earlier when he left work.

A post-mortem was carried out but no cause of death could be determined.

A 61-year-old man has previously appeared in court charged with preventing lawful burial.
