Mother-in-laws are the most generous family members, research shows

MOTHER-IN-LAWS are the most generous family members when it comes to handing out cash to relatives.

New research claims people who received gifts from their spouse's mum in the last year were given on average £3,093.

Brothers were the next most generous, with people who had received cash from a male sibling typically raking in £1,598 last year.

GE Capital Direct's survey of more than 2,000 people found that when it comes to parents, dads tend to be more generous – giving around one-and-a-half times more than mums.
