'He can do anything' - Liverpool's Clyne hails Rashford ahead of Man Utd clash

The defender believes his England team-mate is already one of the Red Devils' most dangerous players, despite only breaking into their first team last season
Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne believes that England team-mate Marcus Rashford "can do anything" as he prepares to welcome him and Manchester United to Anfield on Monday.

The 25-year-old is racing to be fit to face Rashford in one of the most anticipated games of the Premier League calendar after sitting out international duty to recover from a niggling knee injury.

Clyne could be up against Rashford on his return and he reckons that he will have to be at his best to stop the teenage sensation from making the difference.

"Rashford could be coming up against me," Clyne, speaking at the launch of EA SPORTS FIFA 17, told Goal. "He can play as a left winger. He is a direct player, every time he gets the ball he wants to go forward so I definitely have to be on my toes and at my best ability to play against him.

"I will have to make sure I get tight to him, not let him have much of the ball and not let him get space. When quality players get space, they can do anything."

Liverpool sit in fourth place after picking up 16 points in their opening seven Premier League matches, and are three above United, but had to wait until late on to beat to Swansea City in their last game before the international break.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is likely to be picked alongside Rashford to come up against Liverpool but although Clyne praised the Swede, he is confident his side will be able to keep him quiet on the day.

"He is a quality striker [Zlatan Ibrahimovic]," added Clyne. "He is a proven goalscorer in loads of leagues where he became very experienced.

"The whole Manchester United team is a very good team and we are going to have to be on it, on the day, but I am sure we will be right for it.”

Nathaniel Clyne was speaking at the launch of EA SPORTS FIFA 17, out NOW on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and all other formats. To find out more visit easports.co.uk/fifa #FIFA17
