GOOD Morning Britain viewers were sent into a frenzy today as the feud between long-time rivals Alan Sugar and Piers Morgan led to an explosive on-air showdown.

The pair have been embroiled in a long-running spat, and they took their rivalry to TV today with a good-natured bout on the GMB sofa.

Viewers could’t help chuckling at the amusing barbs they threw at each other during the spat, and many suggested the pair should be given their own show.

At the beginning of his interview, Lord Sugar literally squared up to Piers as he walked onto the set as the host shunned a handshake and raised his fists in a mock fight pose.

However, they soon got down to business as they exchanged barbs during a two-part interview.

Piers threw the first verbal punch by poking fun at Lord Sugar’s looks, joking: “[He is] Britain’s best businessman… at least in his mind.”

Lord Sugar then hit back by mocking Piers’ role as a morning TV presenter, declaring his presence onscreen might “put [viewers] off their [breakfast].”

Piers later asked his rival: “Have you ever wondered what would have happened with your career if you had been blessed with good looks?”

Lord Sugar then quipped: “Pot kettle black”.

During the first round, Piers also teased Alan about his estimated £1 billion fortune by showing him a clip of fellow Apprentice host Donald Trump belittling his finances.

Alan hit back by poking fun at Morgan for getting fired from the UK version of the hit reality show before going on to win Trump’s US show Celebrity Apprentice.

The businessman also joked about the show’s microphones not being turned off during breaks in filming and joked that he was caught saying: “That Piers Morgan is a right idiot”.
