A groom bailed out of his wedding... so the bride's family did something surprising

THE caring family of a bride-to-be treated a city’s homeless population to a gourmet feast – after her fiancé got cold feet and bailed out of their wedding.

Quinn Duane, 27, was due to marry Landon Borup in Sacramento, California, on Saturday in a lavish £22,500 ceremony.

However, Landon had a change of heart and called off the nuptials with less than a week to go.

Quinn’s parents decided not to cancel the swanky hotel venue and catering, generously inviting homeless guests to the wedding banquet instead.

Quinn and Landon met in 2011 and got engaged in April last year - but he pulled out Facebook

 The jilted bride’s mum Kari Duane, 53, said: “When I found out on Monday that the wedding would not be taking place, it just seemed like, of course, this would be something that we would do to give back.”

Kari – whose daughter was too devastated to attend the event – added: “I feel a lot of heartache and heartbreak for her, but I will take away something good from this.”

Among the guests were babies, young children and the elderly.

The lucky diners – who were fed culinary dishes served up by the Citizen Hotel’s four-star Grange restaurant – were overwhelmed by the Duanes’ generosity.

Rashad Abdullah, who attended with his wife Erika Craycraft and their five children, said: “When you’re going through a hard time and a struggle, for you to get out to do something different with your family, it was really a blessing.”

Erika added: “To lose out on something so important to yourself and then give it to someone else is really giving, really kind.”
