My mum slept with my boyfriend after he left me with constant black eyes

A DAUGHTER has told how her mother had a secret affair with her violent boyfriend despite being told he had domestically abused her.

22-year-old Chelsea Hopper was left in tears when she came across messages her mum Jacqueline had sent to her boyfriend Kevin Scott, gushing about how good he was “in bed”.

The pair had been involved in a relationship in spite of the fact Kevin had left Chelsea with “almost constant black eyes” in the time they were together.

Distraught Chelsea has since called the affair the “ultimate betrayal”, and insisted she wants “nothing to do” with her mother or ex again.

Chelsea first met ex-boyfriend Kevin when she was working in a bar, and said that at first the relationship was packed with charm and romance.

The honeymoon period continued after they moved into a flat together in February last year.

Chelsea told the Daily Mirror: “Kevin would always chat me up, making jokes and complimenting my looks.

“He was always very charming. I really thought I would end up marrying him one day.”

She eventually introduced her new beau to her parents despite being slightly nervous about what they would think about the age gap between the pair.

To her surprise, mum Jacqueline told her it didn’t matter “as long as you’re happy.”

Chelsea said: “Kevin got on really well with my parents and mum talked about what a nice lad he was.

“I remember she said 'Oh, he's a handsome guy isn't he!'”

But the relationship quickly turned sour, with Chelsea receiving text messages saying her new beau had been cheating on her.

Soon enough, Kevin began to show his true colours.

Chelsea claims her boyfriend would abuse her if she wanted to go out with her friends, throwing TV remotes and phones at her.

She said: “Sometimes he would attack me physically. I seemed to have an almost constant black eye.

“He would call me names and say I was worthless. Whenever I cried he would shout 'Stop it or I'll give you something to cry about'!”

Unable to bear the constant attacks, Chelsea moved home, where her mum took Kevin’s side in the conflict.

She said: “Dad was really angry but Mum always seemed to defend Kevin and say 'I bet he didn't mean to do it, he loves you.’”

“She said she would go round and talk to Kevin for me.”

Out of fear their relationship was over, Kevin soon bombarded Chelsea with flowers and apologies.

But when they got back together, Chelsea quickly discovered the Facebook messages from her mother.

She told of her heartbreak: “They were all dirty messages from my mum telling Kevin how good he was in bed. I felt sick...I was hysterical.

“I went to my mum's and shouted 'You've been f****** my boyfriend! How could you do this to me?

“She denied it and managed to convince my dad that I was wrong.”

Chelsea was so traumatised by the situation that she contemplated suicide, locking herself in the bathroom with an assortment of pills.

Luckily, a friend rescued her from an early death, but Kevin managed to persuade the 22-year-old he hadn’t done anything, and the pair got back together for a second time.

She said: “I didn't know what to believe, but it seemed easier just to accept Kevin's version of what had gone on.

“But it soon became harder to ignore, because I could tell Kevin was cheating on me.

“Sometimes I would come home and my mum would be there. Dad said she would disappear or he would wake up in the early hours and she wasn't there.”

When Chelsea came home to find Kevin in bed with someone else, it was the last straw.

Summoning the strength to end it for good, she walked out for the last time and handed Kevin the keys to their flat.

Here, things went from bad to worse as Kevin threw the keys at her face, giving her a bruised and bloodied eye.

While she has a new boyfriend now, Chelsea says the devastation caused by the affair is unforgiveable.

Chelsea said: “My mum has finally admitted what went on with Kevin. I feel I should be really angry with her, but I just feel numb.

“I am upset for me, but I'm more upset for my dad because he's so distraught.

“I begged him to leave Mum, but they have been together 27 years. I think he's worried he'd struggle without her.”

Disgraced mum Jacqueline admitted she bedded Kevin, but said: “There wasn't a relationship - I slept with him three times. It was for a bit of attention, because me and my partner don't have sex.

“Chelsea thinks I've been with him loads of times, but it was three times.

“It was ten minutes - I don't think we even spoke. I know it was wrong and I regret it. I don't know what made me do it, I really don't.”
