Docs say Gemma Collins is ‘too vulnerable’ for I’m A Celeb return

EXCLUSIVE by SARAH PACKER, Showbiz Reporter 10 October 2015, 10:25am

I’M A Celeb quitter Gemma Collins’ hopes of a shock return to the jungle have been dashed by doctors.

The ex-Towie star, 34, was persuaded by show bosses to be in this year’s series despite leaving after just three days last year.

But after completing the mandatory psych test for contestants, she was deemed too vulnerable.

A source said: “Gemma is gutted because she was desperate to give it another go.

“She’s in the best shape of her life but docs feared another repeat of last year’s early exit.

“Despite losing weight and brimming with confidence, they felt she still wasn’t strong enough to cope with the demands.

“ITV still want her to be involved with the show in some capacity. They think she’s TV gold.”

I’m A Celeb bosses wanted to team up Gemma with another of last year’s contestants, Craig Charles, who left early due to the death of his brother.

The former Corrie star, 51, seems likely to become only the second celebrity after Katie Price to be in the hit series twice.

Gemma lasted just 72 hours in the Aussie jungle last year. After arriving in camp, she said: “I’m not cut out for this.”

She then lost her first trial, which put her in the Celebrity Slammer with little food.

Later she feared she had malaria and panicked about a tick bite before leaving.

Gemma was so traumatised she threatened to quit showbiz for good, only to arrive back on Towie weeks later. She quit that as well.
