Google founders name Sundar Pichai as Google CEO, create new parent company called Alphabet

Out of the blue, Larry Page took to Google’s official blog this afternoon to announce the creation of a new company, Alphabet. So what is Alphabet? Just another of the many companies under Google? No, the exact opposite. Alphabet is a new umbrella company that is a collection of other companies, including Google.
Larry Page will act as CEO of Google’s new parent company, with Sergey Brin as President. As for Google? It is getting slimmed down a bit, with Life Sciences (a company that focuses on glucose-sensing contact lens), Calico (focused on longevity) and some of the other “way out in left field” projects moving under Alphabet’s wings. Yes, that means X Labs is also now under Alphabet and not directly associated with Google.
Google will remain focused on Internet products, Android, and other Google-y things with Sundar Pichai now moving into the position of CEO of Google itself. For those wondering, YouTube will remain a semi-independent part of Google as well, with Susan Wojcicki in charge as its CEO. Google is not a conventional company. We do not intend to become one. – Larry Page.

So why rebrand now? Basically, Google has grown into a giant monster. The idea is that restructuring will allow for better organization, with each company under Alphabet having its own “strong CEO who runs each business” with Sergey and Page “in service to them as needed”. In many ways, the new company will operate similar to the old one, but with more defined lines, better accountability, and more comprehensive structure. Alphabet Inc. will also replace Google Inc. as the publicly traded entity, and all shares of Google will convert into the same number of shares of Alphabet.
Obviously this a huge shake-up and totally unexpected. We’ll be sure to bring you more details as this story develops, as well as some reactions to how the creation of Alphabet changes the company’s structure and identity going forward. For those that want to do a bit more digging, Alphabet has already launched an official website, though there’s not much to see just yet.
What do you think of this massive news? Let us know in the comments below.

Solo Launcher: A Highly Configurable Home Launcher & Best Cleaner for Android

Not everyone loves the default Android skin slapped on their devices by the manufacturers, and as there are plenty of customizing options available, there’s no end to the amount of tinkering you can do to change your smartphone’s appearance.

Enter Solo Launcher, one of the most popular Android launchers on the market with over 50 million downloads and an average user rating of 4.5.
As a long-term Apex Launcher user, I decided to take a look at this one to see what it offers and if it could persuade me to make the switch. Let’s dive right in.
As with most Android apps, Solo launcher can be downloaded and installed from the Google Play Store. After installation you need to set it as your default launcher to get the best experience.
Solo Launcher comes wit many customization options for your Android device and packs a lot of themes and plugins for added aesthetics and functions respectively.
Here are some features you can expect to get in Solo Launcher:
  • Built-in Search Function (For Web and Local)
  • Fully customizable Homescreen and Appdrawer
  • Quick Gestures
  • Unread Counts
  • Transition Effects
  • Hundreds of Themes
  • Plugin support
  • Weather
  • Ram Booster
  • Widget areas
  • App hiding
Solo launcher embraces material design principles so tjat what you’ll get will closely resemble a standard Lollipop homescreen.
solo-launcher-homescreen-phone
There are options to increase the number of rows and columns of the desktop as well as increase icon size if you wish to. You can also disable the status bar, set different transitions or hide applications from your appdrawer.
solo-launcher-customization
The color scheme of the launcher can also be changed to any color you like (as there’s a built in color picker) while scrolling effects. Folder styles and app animations can also be tweaked to your tastes.
Tablets are also well supported on this launcher, so it works straight out of the box.
This is where Solo Launcher shines. Apart from being compatible with the themes of other popular launchers such as Nova Launcher, Apex Launcher and Go Launcher, there are hundreds of themes available that will give your device a very unique look.
solo-launcher-themes
You can download and install multiple themes if you wish to. Just hold down an empty area on your homescreen and select “themes” from the popup to view available themes online and select the one you like.
Solo Cleaner
solo-launcher-boost
This one should appeal to users on a low-end device. It comes bundled with the application so your device can run smoothly at all times without having to install another memory cleaning app. Solo Cleaner indicates your memory usage and allows you to free up memory with the tap of a button.
Search
solo-launcher-search-share
There’s a search bar at the top of your homescreen which happens to show you the latest trends based on your location and allows you to search for information on the web. You can also search locally for apps, contacts, music or messages.
solo-launcher-search-options
By default, the search bar uses the built-in Solo search engine, but you can easily change it to your favorite search engine from the settings page or turn it off altogether.
Weather
solo-launcher-solo-weather
Another great feature is the weather indicator that comes as part of the clock widget. Tapping on it will show you the latest weather information for your city as well as predictions for the next four days. You can also download the standalone Solo Weather application if you’d like more options.
Other add-ons can be installed for added functionality. There is Solo Notifier for unread counts so you know how many missed calls or unread messages you have, Solo Lock Screen plugin for lock screen gestures and a QR Code Scanner.
Solo Launcher did great on both my phone and tablet. It was snappy enough, and I didn’t experience any usability issues. However, it appears to take a lot more memory than some other third-party launchers, so it’s not exactly what I’d call “lightweight.”
For example, running Solo Launcher and Apex Launcher concurrently shows a massive gap in the memory usage.
solo-launcher-vs-apex-launcher
This shouldn’t be much of a problem for users of high-end devices, but those with low-end phones should keep this in mind.
The plethora of customizing options available on Solo Launcher should appeal to a lot of users such as with the memory cleaning feature, although that is countered by its high memory usage.
Regardless, there are several innovative features, and it operates really fast, clean and slick. If you desire more features, you can always install plugins and themes to create a unique experience. Best of all, it’s completely free to download and use, so don’t hesitate to try it out.

How to Prevent an Image(s)/Video(s) From Being Included in Android Gallery

Hello viewers.. Its my pleasure sharing this very short and unique Tutorial On 9jabasewap Today!!…
A topic(Posts related to this have been shared some times ago….. which says: How to Prevent a Folder From Being Included in the Gallery App in Android Its very Useful.., But the one i’m about to share here now is kinda short and Easy even for a noobs 😛
StepS to follow:
Step 1: Move those images you don’t want them to show up in Gallery in a folder
Step2: creat a text file and name it anything you like but the file extension must be .txt You can use app like Jota Text Edit  or NotePad Text Editor to create a text file But i use Notepad On pc to try this and it worked for me.
Step3: Move/Copy the .txt file to the folder root where you’ve already moved the images you don’t want to be shown in Gallery..
Now open your gallery and see the magic.
NOTE: This can also be done for videos., Just follow the same above steps.

This Was discovered By me Mistakenly/Unknowingly and it was tested On TECNO M3,Probably working on all Tecno Android Phones.., If Its not Working on your own device, Give THIS a try.

Thanks.

New: How to Set Up a Local Web Server on Android

As web developers, we often find the need to debug and test our websites or applications on the go and need to add a bit of flexibility to our workflow that will increase productivity. Last year i posted on How to Turn Your S60 To Web Hosting / Server Using PAMP…
If you fancy running a web server right from your Android device, you should definitely take a look at the KSWEB web server for Android.
It includes:
  • lighttpd server v1.4.35 (SSL)
  • nginx v1.7.3 (SSL)
  • PHP v5.6.2 (SSL)
  • MySQL v5.6.19
  • msmtp v1.4.32
  • Web Interface v1.2

Head over to Google Play Store and KSWEB. It offers a six-day trial so you can test its features after which you will be prompted to purchase the application for $2.99.
Once you launch the application, the server is started, and you can navigate to “localhost:8080″ on your Android device browser or the IP Address provided by KSWEB on your external machine. However, at this point you will only see KSWEB’s default home page.

The default username and password combination is “admin” and “admin.” It is recommended that you change the password for security reasons, and you can do so by heading to the KSWEB Web Interface at “127.0.0.1:8001″ and entering the default login combination to access the admin area.

Once logged in, select System Settings and change the default password from “admin” to something else.

Select the tools tab in the KSWEB, and install phpMyAdmin which is around 7MB. Once it’s done, you will be able to navigate to phpMyAdmin on 127.0.0.1:8000.

To log in to phpMyAdmin, use “root” as the username, and leave the password blank. Once you’re in, it is recommended to change the password.

The default root directory is hosted at “/mnt/sdcard/htdocs.” If you want to change this to some other location, perhaps on a micro SD Card, you can do so by selecting the Lighttpd tab and entering the file path you want.

You can also add multiple hosts if you wish to run more than one website on your Android server.

If you’re a WordPress developer, and you want to host a test website on your Android device, you can easily do so with KSWEB. Just follow the following steps:
1. Start the KSWEB server (by launching the application).
2. Download the WordPress zip file from WordPress.org.
3. Extract the file to “/mnt/sdcard/htdocs” or the root directory you’ve specified using ES File Explorer or any other third-party tool.
4. Go to phpMyAdmin and create a database for the installation.
5. Visit your WordPress installation page at “http://localhost:8080/wordpress” on your device.
6. Install WordPress as usual.
Having the KSWEB server installed on your Android device is all you need to debug websites, run scripts or perhaps show a client a site under development without having online hosting.
You can also install your favorite tools, frameworks or CMS, such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla and more through much the same process as highlighted above.
Have you used KSWEB? What’s your setup like? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

3 of the Best Teacher’s Apps Ever on Android & iOs

Keeping attendance records. Grading papers. Planning and preparing lessons that cover a wide range of subjects, etc. Teachers are responsible for a mega-amount of tasks and duties (too many to list here!), and before the digital age they did it manually.
Today’s educational structure is different. Technology, with all its digital wisdom, has provided tools to assist a teacher in ways that were unheard of however-many years ago. No longer does a teacher have to stay until way after everyone has gone home to grade papers; she can do it on her commute to or from school.
There are a lot of apps out there for assisting teachers with their duties. We’ve assembled three of the best ones that have gotten raving reviews from teachers (and us!) for your perusal.
Great communication between school, parent and child is essential to your child’s education, and let’s face it: it’s not an easy feat. When a field trip is scheduled for Tuesday, and the permission slip gets left on Jack’s desk, or when it’s the fourth time in two weeks that the dog ate Jill’s homework, it’s important that everyone involved is aware of these occurrences. That’s where Class Messenger comes in. Simply put, it’s a messaging app that keeps everybody in sync all through the school year.
For teachers, this app is a great way to organize different tasks. For instance, they can keep all of their classes along with messages for each student in one place.

Parents can message the teacher and communicate with him instantly and vice versa.

Let’s say a school has a baseball team, and they need uniforms. Rather than send an order form home with each student, the teacher can message it to parents through the app and have them fill out the quantity of each item that their child needs.

A symphonic music class might be ready to have its first concert, and the teacher might want to get input as to when the best night would be to conduct it. The app can send a message home (it’s under the survey category in the app) to the parents to get their input as to when they would prefer the concert to be.

And if a parent wants to share something personal (a picture, for instance) about their child with his teacher, all they have to do is go to that part of that app, upload the picture and send it.

Both parent and teacher can send documents and multi-class messages to a group of teachers, children, and parents. Everybody has the option to block anyone as well.
Class Messenger has some new features, such as Google Drive Integration and a private communication network called Staffroom for teachers to interact with the staff or a group of teachers. It also has ‘read receipt’ built in so you can see if the recipient read your message.
This app takes care of the correspondence between parent and student that is vital on all levels; it is educational communication at its best.
Class Messenger is available for free for both Android and iOS.

What is one of the most important days in a semester? Report card day. And keeping track of academic as well as behavior progress for a teacher means lots of time unless they use iGradr. With this simple app teachers can calculate and grade exams, assignments, papers and tests, and create grading scales, quizzes and student or class assessments, as well.

iGradr is a brilliantly simple grading calculator app that can save loads of time for a teacher.
Free for download for Android users at the Play Store.

On the heels of iGradr comes Additio. While iGradr is an exceptional simple app, this app is a strong, robust app that takes grading and the execution of a teacher’s tasks to a whole new level.
When a teacher first opens Additio, he will have an overview of the week ahead of him in notes that he has prepared himself. On Monday he may have a meeting with the principal at lunch. On Thursday he will see that on Thursday he has forty minutes for grading papers at 2:15pm because the students will be at the library. Everything will be right at his fingertips.

There is also a great calendar feature that allows a teacher to plan events, monitor groups, schedule student meetings and more, and it’s all integrated with his or her personal notes. This app has a powerful note system that keeps track of every note a teacher takes from staff meetings to parent-teacher conferences. Again, everything can be integrated.

Taking attendance gives a teacher options like absent, tardiness, justification of either, and expulsion for each student. This is customizable for each student and can be accessed with one click.

There are options to easily create, import, and export reports in an Excel format. The whole app is highly customizable; a teacher can use different configuration marks and colors to coordinate anything from holidays to events to attendance. Everything about a student (files, photos, etc.) can be shared with parents via a built-in email feature. And everything in this app can be backed up in the cloud.
Additio organizes and plans a teacher’s day-to-day tasks brilliantly. It’s a must-have for a teacher’s school year.
Additio can be found for free at the Play Store and the App Store.
To give your child the best education possible is a top priority in a teacher’s life. Using one of these apps is definitely a step in the right direction.

5 Best Emulator To Run Android Apps on PC

Android is one of the most popular mobile computing operating systems and powers a diverse range of phones, including the low-end ones and the high-end flagship. The good thing about Android is that other than running it on mobile devices, it can also run on the desktop with a suitable emulator. In case you have an ancient Windows machine and want to convert it into something useful, running Android on it can give your ancient Windows machine a new lease of life.
DO You Know? You Can Also Run Android Apps in the Google Chrome Browser
There are many free Android emulators for Windows on the market but only a few of them could match up to our expectations. Listed below is a carefully curated list of Android emulators for your Windows PC.

Bluestacks has been one of the most sought-after Android emulators thanks to its easy installation and the ability to accept third party apk’s by double clicking on them. This app supports one of the most exhaustive lists of applications and is a natural choice if you are on a quest for an Android emulator to run apps and play Android Games.

As we said earlier, Bluestacks comes packed in a single file which can be installed directly, and unlike other programs it doesn’t need a third-party virtualization tool.
We found Bluestack to be best optimised for playing games, though the UI is slightly different from any run-of-the-mill Android phone and keeps reminding you that you are using an emulator.
Android-Emulators-Andy-user-interface
Andy OS is another Android emulator, which unlike most of other emulators on the market, offers features like touchscreen support. We need to install virtualbox in the system, and the installer file will automatically install Oracle VM, in case you don’t have it installed in your system.
The installation process can be a bit time-consuming and resource-hogging if you are using an under-specced device. Once the installation is done, it prompts a restart after which you are ready to experience Andy OS.

The best takeaway of the emulator has to be the fact that it matches up so closely with an actual Android device, and if you dig inside the settings Andy will show that it is running on Android 4.4 (a.k.a KitKat). Another good bit is that Andy OS offers a feature wherein you can use your phone as a remote control whilst playing games!
Android-Emulators-Genymotion-user-interface
Genymotion is the best bet if you are looking for a complete Android experience. Genymotion emulator, however, needs you to not only sign up at their website but also activate your account by verifying your e-mail address. Just like Andy, Genymotion uses VirtualBox, which will be used by the emulator to create a virtual machine.
Android-Emulators-GenyMotion-settings
The unique feature of Genymotion emulator is that it lets you choose between a slew of Android devices, both smartphones and tablets, and then uses the Virtual Box to emulate the device. We choose HTC One running on Android KitKat 4.4.4, and we were impressed by the level of detailing. The x86-built architecture makes Genymotion faster than Bluestacks. Some of the features like Pixel perfect and Screenshots are only available in the paid version.
Android-Emulators-Youwave-user-interface
YouWave Android emulator is the natural pick for users who don’t use a high-end system. Unlike other emulators, YouWave can be installed and run in a low configuration PC without any problems. Additionally, the emulator also supports Android online multiplayer gaming, and it features an easy-to-use user interface.

Users can install apps by using apk files or by directly heading to Playstore and downloading the app. We would like to let you know that YouWave is not completely free, but the company offers a 10-day trial before you make up your mind to shell out some money.
Android-Emulators-Windows-Android-user-interface
As the name implies, this emulator is highly optimised for Windows systems. The emulator can be installed easily and the fact that it runs on Windows Kernel ensures that the emulator is speedy and it doesn’t really get hung up in the middle. Windows Android dynamically chooses the appropriate UI based on the size of the windows. The emulator also supports the use of mobile phones as controllers for the games.
Android-Emulators-Windows-Android-settings
Windows Android has one of the best home screens we have come across in emulators, and the UI is highly optimized for PC usage. It’s good to see the app operate at lightning fast speed without any lag whatsoever.
It is hard to hand pick a single winner as each emulator has its own pros and cons. I have been personally using Bluestacks for quite a while and found it to be one of the most simple yet intuitive emulators out of the lot. The fact that Bluestacks is completely free is icing on the cake for users. Bluestacks steals the crown as we found it to be extremely balanced, and it supports one of the widest ranges of Android apps. If you are a serial gamer, without any second thought, I would recommend the Windows Android emulator as it renders the best graphics without any frame drops and also lets you use the Android phone as a controller.

Which Android emulator have you used, and which one is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below.
