THE FBI have discovered a major al Qaeda terror plot to attack US voters in a chilling election day “spectacular”.

An attack is thought to have been planned across a number of states the day before the Presidential election next week.

It comes as Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump prepare to take each other on for the final battle to the White House

Al-Qaeda are thought to have been plotting devastations New York, Texas and Virginia.

An FBI spokesman told CBS News: “The counterterrorism and homeland security communities remain vigilant and well-postured to defend against attacks here in the United States.

“The FBI, working with our federal, state and local counterparts, shares and assesses intelligence on a daily basis.

“We will continue to work closely with law enforcement and intelligence community partners to identify and disrupt any potential threat to public safety.”

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are battling one another for the keys to the White House in one of the closest ever elections next Tuesday.

The USA remains on high alert as terror attacks have swept Europe in recent months.
