Marc Jacobs accused of cultural appropriation after featuring white models in faux dreadlocks for his NYFW show

Marc Jacobs showcased his spring/summer 2017 collection during the ninth and final day of New York Fashion Week and there's controversy trailing the choice of hair on his runway models. Marc featured predominantly white models, like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Adriana Lima, and they all walked down the catwalk with multicolored wool dreadlocks.

Black Americans were not pleased with the 'cultural appropriation' and came for him via Social Media, stating that dreadlocks are prominent in black culture, 'a symbol of black pride in a society that stigmatizes textured hair while privileging straight hair.' Why then did he chose to use few African American models in his show? The Designer has since responded to criticism via Instagram. See that and more photos after the cut.
